On April 4, 2024, the French National Assembly passed a law banning the use of PFASs, commonly known as eternal pollutants, found in many consumer goods and suspected of being carcinogenic. The law's key measure is that, from January 1, 2026, the manufacture, import and sale of cosmetics, clothing and ski waxing products containing PFAS will be banned.
An exception has, however, been made for household utensils and PEM, known to be the categories that emit and consume the most PFAS.
